New Podcasting Service - helpful information

Last month A2i launched our new Podcasting service. In our last newsletter we gave you some initial information about this service. This month we explain more about how you create your podcast, how you broadcast it and how your customers can find and listen to it …

The basics - what is a Podcast?
A Podcast is an audio broadcast that is available on the Internet.  A podcast can be played directly from a website, or easily downloaded to a computer or to a personal audio player such as an ipod or mp3 player.

How do I create the Podcast?
Simply email or post a copy of your document to us, and our professional readers will produce an audio version suitable for a podcast. Your podcast will be sent to you on a CD.

Options available with A2i

  • multi-chapter podcasts
  • addition of musical intro's and outro's
  • foreign language audio podcasts
  • Maths audio podcasts (up top degree level Maths)

How do I broadcast my Podcast?
You will either need some space on your own website, or you can publish your podcast on a number of other host sites.

You will need to:

  • upload your podcast
  • create an RSS xml file
  • add a link to your podcast on your website

If you have an IT department, they should find the above steps easy! If you don't have an IT department, more detailed instructions can be found on the internet, or you could contact your website host.

How will my customers hear the Podcast?
Your customers can play your audio file directly from your website, or subscribe and listen to your podcast by typing the xml address directly into their audio software (e.g. itunes). They can also transfer your podcast to their own mp3 player.

How will my customers find my Podcast?
You can advertise your podcast on your own website, or through your usual marketing methods. To enable your customers to search for and find your podcast on programs such as itunes, you can also submit your podcast to their directories.
